Toxic Waste

Ok, slightly later than promised, but here is a photo of the sweets you (should) have all been looking for!

I knew this would be a challenge that Trainee Paramedic couldn’t resist, but it seems even he couldn’t find them!

“I did actually look for them (albeit discreetly, being 22 and all, he he) but to no avail”

It seems I shall have to embark on a mission to find which stores stock them.

But TP continues:

“The most sour sweets I know are from an old fashioned sweet shop near where I work, and I love buying them, and handing them out at work to see people's reactions. I find it hilarious, but I have received a few choice words in response! ha ha.”

Hehehe, TP I like your style! But I wonder how the two sweets compare…

You should try a sweetie from Scotland called a 'Soor Ploom' (try saying Sour Plum in a Scottish accent). When I was small I swear they could make the insides of your cheeks bleed. Dunno if it's me, or if the recipes changed, but they don't seem as strong nowadays.

I must look for Toxic Waste though!!!

Hi Trekkie, welcome to my blog :o)

Hehehe, you were obviously brought up on strong stuff! Toxic Waste actually comes with a warning!

"Consuming more than one within a brief time may cause irritation to mouth. Sensitive idividuals should not consume this product"

Your blog should come with a warning too! I just took a look and now... I need cake!!

I know, and now I wish I hadn't!

Warning: only go to Trekkies website if
a) you are seriously looking to expand your waistline!
b) you don't care about your waistline! or
c) you don't have a sweet tooth (is that even possible?)

Right I'm off - I'm going to Trekkies house to eat all her cake!

Woolworths is where I source my Toxic Waste. I LOVE them but they're not sour enough. Once you get past the outer coating the inside is good old fashioned boiled sweet.

This is very true CJ, although if you continue to suck they do become sour again.

I know you're a fan of "kiddies" sweeties - are you still in to your sherbet dabs (or whatever they're called)?

Mr Man and I were remembering "Fire Balls" the other day! Remember them? I wonder if they're still available...

Rhubarb and Custard sweets..I remember when 25p got you a whole quarter in a little white bag. Or Strawberry bon-bons.. Cola and Pineapple Cubes.. This list is endless... none of these taste the same now though.. =(

By the way girlie.. I love the clay work.. I just "been up to my neck" in stuff right now >.<

"..none of these taste the same now though.. " That's just cos you're old! :P

I love cough candy, but I always struggle to find them - there are a few places that sell them though.

What happened to our little shops that sold sweeties by the quarter? Do kids these days even know what a "quarter" is? (if they're brainy they might work it out based on burgers sold at McDonalds!)

50p used to buy you the biggest bag of sweet cigarettes ever! They're probably not even allowed to call them that anymore!

Thanks for the comment about the clay by the way. Sorry to hear things have been hectic for you.
