Celebration Time!

Has it really been a week since I last updated this blog? In my defence I have been particularly unwell with what I thought was a vicious bout of Irritable Bowel, but what in fact turned out to be Viral Gastroenteritis.

After a week of passing watery poo and not being able to eat very much I feel quite tired and weak. But…

Today I have cause for celebration! Yes, it’s official…

Today I did my first proper poo! I never thought I could feel so happy and excited about such a thing! I rushed off to the supermarket to buy the biggest parsnip I could find to go with the roast dinner I intend on eating tomorrow in celebration!

Not quite ready for cake or chocolate yet though… although if you’d like to send me some anyway I’m sure I’ll feel better by the time it arrives!

Lol thank you Muller! :o)

ps. are you of the crunch corner variety? Or do you just mull over things?

Pootastic!! Sorry you've been poorly but glad you're on the mend enough to celebrate with parsnips. At least I assume going to eat parsnips, not use them as some kind of bung.

gives a whole new meaning to taking a bung!

Woah!! This parsnip was pretty huge! Just the thought of... no I don't even want to think about it! Honestly, a bung is really not required anymore! Thank you for your well wishes CJ! :o)

Hehehe, not the kind of bung I'd be willing to accept Anonymous! :o)

You know what, I can really appreciate this. I work on a Gastro ward and I frequently have parents come up to me and tell me their child has done thier first poo since thier operation to fix their bowel obstruction and we all get so excited!

Glad you're feeling better :)

Hehehe :)

Thanks Angela. I'm even more excited now that the pains have gone! Even when the cramps settled down I still felt "bruised" on the inside for a while.

I'm definitely back to normal now - normal chocolate consumption has resumed!

I've always found that a dodgy Indian mealis the best thing for shifting it.

Hehehe, I always find that any Indian meal shifts it!

There you are Angela, that's the answer - any kids with bowel obstructions, just give them a vindaloo! :o)

Trekkie, Angela and I want know if you're a Star Trek fan?

I've been an active fan since I was a teenager, and have been hanging around with the same cast of reprobates since about '79 or '80. I met my first fiance at a Trek convention held in Liverpool in '85 (we got engaged at the Worldcon in Brighton in '87) and was a founding member of what was the largest club in Britain, The Away Team (sadly now defunct). I've been on the committee of 4 conventions (Silvercon (Glasgow '91) and Contagion (Glasgow '92/'93 and '94). At the '94 Contagion I met my future husband and married him within 5 months.
I was also the President of the first official 'Robin of Sherwood' fan club, Forrest.

So I'd say that yes, I'm officially a 'Trekkie'

Mr Mans Wife said...

Wow. Err... yeah... I think that would qualify you as a fan! I just wondered if you were a Trekkie Trekkie or... y'know, someone who goes trekking!

I feel quite inferior as a fan now! I shall have to describe myself as "someone who follows the story"!

By the way, I tried to register on your blog so that I could comment but I didn't receive my password email :(

I'm not very active at the moment - 2 children kinda tie you down a bit and you can't just pop of to conventions when you fancy it. But my love of cooking and my Trek did cross over once. At Silvercon (to celebrate 25 years of Trek 66-91) I baked a huge cake, decorated it with a communicator badge etc. and I now have, as one of my most prized possessions, a signed photo of John de Lancie saying 'Great cake, Lynn'.

BTW, I've e-mailed you about the password.

Mr Mans Wife said...

Wow! A Signed photograph of Q!

Do you have a photo of the cake?

Thanks for the email, a reply is in the post!

Trekkie said...

Alas, it got scoffed before a photo was taken.

Ahh, thanks Gadget. I'm really touched that you came to my blog to leave me that message.

I hope you don't have to work too many shifts over the holiday period and I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable time with your friends and family.
